Blue Angels to Headline 2007 Indianapolis Air Show
Prestigious US Navy demonstration team tops list of performers for event benefiting Riley Hospital for Children
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — December 06, 2006 — The US Naval Flight Demonstration Squadron, better known as the “Blue Angels,” will be soaring, flipping and twisting high above Central Indiana next summer as the headliners for the 2007 Indianapolis Air Show at Mt. Comfort Airport, set for Aug. 25 and 26.
During a Blue Angels flight demonstration, you will see vivid examples of the tremendous skills possessed by all naval aviators. That includes the graceful aerobatic maneuvers of the four-plane Diamond Formation, in concert with the fast-paced, high-performance maneuvers of its two Solo Pilots. The team will also illustrate the pinnacle of precision flying, performing maneuvers locked as a unit in the renowned, six-jet Delta Formation.
“We are thrilled that the Blue Angels will be leading the extensive list of performers for next year’s Air Show. Their flying feats are truly amazing and will absolutely thrill the crowds,” said Mike Potter, chairman of the 2007 event. “This is by far the best show of its kind in the Midwest, and having the Blue Angels be a part of it only raises its profile. We’re looking forward to a tremendous event, and to raising even more money for the kids at Riley.”
In 2006, through the generosity of a Central Indiana Community Foundation fund and with the help of Thrivent Financial for Lutheran volunteers, the Air Show donated more than $130,000 to Indianapolis’ Riley Hospital for Children, bringing the total contributed to the hospital to more than $1 million since the show’s inception in 1997.
On top of the Blue Angels, next year’s Air Show will feature additional military demonstration teams, local and national stunt fliers and pyrotechnicians, celebrities, classic cars and planes, and the NASA Space Camp.
