Indianapolis Air Show Donates $130,000 to Riley Hospital for Children
2006 contribution brings total donation to $1 million
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — November 27, 2006 — The spirits of the staff and kids at Riley Hospital for Children are flying high today, thanks to the Indianapolis Air Show’s latest charitable contribution.
For 2006, the Aug. 26-27 Air Show donated more than $130,000 to the hospital as a result of attendance figures that reached the 80,000 mark.
“The families who attend this annual event not only enjoy spectacular, sky-high entertainment, they also help us make a difference in the lives of some special children,” said Pat Robinson, chairman of the 2006 Air Show. “Everyone involved in the Air Show is so honored to be a part of it – from the volunteers, to the organizers, to our sponsors. We have fun, and we help Riley at the same time. You can’t beat that!”
This year’s Air Show donation brings the total given to Riley to $1 million since the show’s inception in 1997.
“The Indianapolis Air Show is completely run by volunteers, which is amazing by itself. The fact that this year’s event took this group past the $1 million mark in funds raised for Riley Hospital is even more amazing,” said Kevin O’Keefe, president and CEO, Riley Children’s Foundation. “This represents a tremendous amount of generosity in time, talent and financial resources. The impact on the children served at Riley is immeasurable.”
Capital City Ford was the title sponsor for the 2006 Air Show, which featured the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, as well as other military demonstration teams, local and national stunt fliers and pyrotechnicians, celebrities, classic cars and planes, and the NASA Space Camp.
Planning for the 2007 Indianapolis Air Show at Mt. Comfort Airport is already underway. Be sure to check the event’s Website, www.indyairshow.com, for updates.
